Mycoplasma Detection and Removal

One of the most common contaminants present in cell culture laboratories are mycoplasma. A conservative estimate states that between 15-35% of all continuous cell cultures are contaminated with mycoplasma, some estimates are even higher (up to 80 % in some countries).

Detection of Mycoplasma

Detection of MycoplasmaEasily detect mycoplasma using MycoAlert Mycoplasma Detection Kit:
  • Fast - Get results in less than 20 minutes rather than several hours to weeks
  • Universal - Detect all mycoplasma and acholeplasma infections commonly contaminating cell cultures
  • Sensitive - Detect <50 cfu/ml mycoplasma and avoid false negative results often encountered with PCR and fluorescent staining procedures
  • Convenient - Simply mix two reagents with 100 µl of your culture supernatant and take two readings on your luminometer

Lucetta Luminometer ... in combination with the new single tube Lucetta Luminometer:

  • Easy-to-use - Small portable instrument, no PC necessary
  • Convenient - Tailor-made with a MycoAlert Protocol wizard

Elimination of Mycoplasma

Elimination of Mycoplasma Efficiently eliminate mycoplasma contaminations with the MycoZap Elimination Reagent
  • Easy - Simply add the reagent to your culture media
  • Universal - Eradicate Mollicute sp., including all species of mycoplasma, acholeplasma, spiroplasma and entomoplasma in cell cultures
  • Thorough - Totally remove contamination using a combination of antibiotic and anti-metabolic agents
  • Gentle - Eliminate mycoplasma with minimal toxic effects on the cells

Prevention of mycoplasma contamination

Reliably prevent mycoplasma contaminations with our new MycoZap Antibiotics:
  • MycoZap Prophylactic - For prevention of mycoplasma contamination in cell lines and primary cells
  • MycoZap Plus-CL and -PR - For complete protection against microbial contaminants such as Gram+, Gram- bacteria, fungi and mycoplasma
